Dejan Milojevic’s death, a young 46-year-old basketball coach and player legend in this sport, has seriously shaken the world. Many people from Serbia, through Spain and Turkey, to the United States, where he worked as a coach for the Golden State Warriors, are mourning his death.
Many people from the basketball world are left inconsolable and did not expect this loss, but who could, considering that Milojevic was only halfway through his fifth decade of life. However, what people from the Balkans are looking for is to never let Milojevic be forgotten, and they see the solution in asking the ABA League to change the name of the MVP trophy for this competition. During his career, Dejan Milojevic was the MVP of this competition three times, which is the most in history, and he was also the player with the highest index in a game – as much as 59.
Former Red Star player, Vladimir Stimac, sent a letter to the ABA League asking for this to be done. His letter was fully published by Telegraf.
„Dear, on this occasion, I ask you to consider the request to have the title of the best player of the ABA League (MVP) be named after our celebrated coach and basketball player, the recently deceased Dejan Milojevic. In addition to being remembered as a good man and friend, Dejan, dedicated and committed to both his family and every basketball goal, will forever be remembered as the most valuable player of the ABA League of all time. He won the MVP title three times and received numerous awards.
„It is our duty, even though he did most of the work himself, to ensure that his name never falls into oblivion. Therefore, I ask you to accept this request.“
Today I sent an official request to the ABA League to fulfill our duty to Dejan and not allow his name to ever be forgotten. I hope they will accept this request. @ABA_League pic.twitter.com/zuqcTaf7UD
